At the Hoboken Street fair earlier this month I couldn’t pass up stopping to check out some shiny dime size silver things, merely because I didn’t know what they were or what you do with them. I had to investigate. After all, this is KathyDowDiscovers.

Guess what? Golf Markers.

Ok, I have to admit, I’m not a golfer and I don’t know what you do with a marker, but my Dad is a golfer so a little lightbulb went off in my head: “Father’s Day is coming!”

The lady behind the personalized silver plated golf markers was more than happy to tell me about them especially in light of my lack of golf experience.

Here’s the story: It seems when a golfer hits his ball he has to move it so it is out of the way for the next golfer. Ta Da! A marker with his/her name or initial goes down on the spot and the ball gets picked up. When it’s their turn again they can place the ball back on its mark. Good idea huh?

I picked one up that says “Jim” (that’s my dad) and I got the silver case that holds it too. One thing I did ask and needed to know was if my dad was going to know what this is. She assured me that she only has to explain it to non golfers.
